LaxNuttz Take on the World Games So Far…

  • The U.S. Team is an absolute beast.  The middies are dominating the face offs.  The entire squad is dominating the ground ball game.  The attack is relentless on the ride.  The Defense is lights out.  The team is controlling the ball on the offensive side of the field.  They are dangerous from every spot in the offense.  Rob Pannell is the smoothest, quickest attack-man I have ever watched.  He is quick to dodge and can score from behind and is just as dangerous as a feeder.  It comes as no surprise but Paul Rabil is the best midfielder in the game, it is clear when watching him that his dedication to strength and conditioning pays huge dividends on the field.  Rabil can hurt you from up top, on the wing with his left or his right.  Thul is a man child, he is a gigantic, hard shooting midfielder.  He might be part Bigfoot.  Leveille is a finisher inside, he knows how to find the gap and put away the rock.  Max Seibald is lightning fast and has great vision and field sense, I was surprised at his ability to distribute the ball.  Max has always been a finisher but he is a better team player and helps make the players around him better.  Lawson is another tremendous finisher, it’s a lot of fun to watch this former Blue Devil.  Buchanan has a rocket from the outside.
  • The Iroquois Team is so much fun to watch.  The amazing stick skills of the Thompsons are mind blowing.  Lyle Thompson’s behind the back stick flip against Brodie Merrill (Arguable the best defense-men to ever play the game) is the stuff of legend.  Lyle Thompson is the leading goal scorer with an impressive 12 goals.  He proved he is willing to hustle on the ride and has caused multiple turnovers.  I have been a bit disappointed by the Iroquois Defense.  The off-ball slashing and blatant hickory stick beatings are pointless.  It cheapens the game.  If the defense kept the penalties down to a minimum in the Canada  game, they may have pulled off the comeback.  The Iroquois showed much more restraint against Team Australia and that resulted in a big win.
  • Team Canada is outstanding as well.  Brodie Merrill is what all defense-men should strive to become.  He is physical, he is big and if the ball goes to the ground it is his.  His stick skills are amazing and he is comfortable staying on the offensive side of the field.  He can run D-Middie or Close D and he belongs on the toher team’s best player.  (P.S. He is a Hoya ).
